Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she knew how to write or read. After getting her first guitar at age of eight, she started to perform on radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. She made a name on the local circuit while in high school but she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show required an additional singer around this point. Parton got her first gig in the year 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's Show because the success of her singles like Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to Number. 1 for the first time in 1974.
